<dcterms:abstract>This historical novel is set during one of the most famous invasions of St. Augustine in history, the English siege of 1702. The experience is re-told through the eyes of 9-year-old Luissa de Cueva, 10-year-old Diego de las Alas, and 9-year-old Junco of the Timucuan Panther clan, when Spanish citizens, escaped slaves from the British colonies, and Christian Indians of Florida sought safety in the Castillo. To make her book as historically accurate as possible, Lindquist researched the experiences of the families who sought refuge for 51 days within the walls of the Castillo de San Marcos.</dcterms:abstract>
