This novel follows Lucely Luna, who lives with her father and the spirits of her ancestors who appear as either fireflies or humans depending on her need. When her ghostly family is threatened, she recruits her best friend Syd, and his grandmother who is a witch, to fight against evil spirits that threaten not just her family, but all of St. Augustine.
Local locations visited or mentioned include, but are not limited to the Castillo de San Marcos, the Huguenot Cemetery, Tolomato Cemetery, and the St. Augustine Lighthouse.
