This novel follows multiple characters in St. Augustine, who are connected by the thread between them and a recent murder near the pier at St. Augustine Beach. Both police departments (St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach) and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Department are on the case, trying to identify the body and track down the culprit. Meanwhile, the killer is still at-large and the police uncover the connection of the deceased to a Mexican drug cartel.
Other notable local locations visited include King Street, St. Francis House, and Anastasia Island State Park.
