Abstract

In book 4 of the Day McKelvey Mystery's, Day, who is a reporter turned detective, is caught in a devastating heatwave, but the weather is not the only new arrival that is causing a stir in the community. Derek McKelvey, Day's ex-husband, has come to St. Augustine on business while she sneaks dates with her beau, police Lt. Sam Stansfield. The opulent Athena Parks has recently made a very expensive purchase of a condominium complex on St. Augustine Beach - a rather suspicious purchase. When not writing news articles for the Dispatch, Day begins investigating, trying to get ahead of her rival Kitzi Ryan, but soon finding herself in life-threatening danger.

Local locations that were fictionalized include St. George Street, King Street, the Bridge of Lions, the Cathedral Basilica, West Augustine, the Savannah Sweets Store, St. Augustine Beach, and the Matanzas River.
