During the 2nd Seminole War (1835-1842), Charles Paige, both a naturalized American citizen and an adopted blood brother of Chief Coacoochee, finds himself negotiating between the two cultures of settlers and natives. Though Paige gains the help of Marie Campbell, the niece of a Frenchman who “adopted” Paige, their efforts to help the natives’ cause eventually entrap them.
