Abstract

The 32nd book in the series, Mandie Mysteries, Amanda "Mandie" Shaw and her friend, Celia Hamilton, join her grandmother, Mrs. Taft, and her cat, Snowball to visit Senator Morton at his St. Augustine home. However, after Mandie realizes that a deaf and mute servant, Juan, gives her an eerie feeling, Mandie and Celia are determined to figure out why a host of uncanny and unsettling feelings seem to arise from both Juan, the home, and the oldest city in the nation.

Local locations visited or mentioned in the text include the St. Augustine Lighthouse, the Castillo de San Marcos, the Florida East Coast rail line, and the Hotel Ponce de Leon.
