The Story of the Huguenots: A Sixteenth Century Narrative Wherein the French, Spanish and Indians Were the Actors

Dublin Core

Abstract

This is a historic account of the 1500s to 1600s in Northeast Florida, and the settlements that developed within the area. It discusses the Huguenots, the Spanish, the English, and the Natives of Florida. With a focus on the Huguenots and their trials, and an attempt to remain neutral, there is an obvious bias in the characterizations of the different characters.

Local locations visited or mentioned include, but are not limited to Fort Caroline, the St. Johns River, the original site of St. Augustine (Fountain of Youth) including the original fort, and the Matanzas Inlet.
