Abstract A summary of the resource. **Warning: Some readers may find certain scenes in this book disturbing.** A story of forbidden love and marriage between a girl of sixteen, Leah, and a young man, Herbert, on leave from college. Forced to hide her marriage, the girl becomes a secretary to a wealthy woman in St. Augustine. But a secret wedding is not the only secret, and some secrets can have unforeseen consequences. As she grows older, how many secrets will Leah have to keep after the first one from her grandmother as a high school girl? And, if she is exposed as a bigamist will she become a social outcast? It is hard to identify specific locations in this story. A palm cottage comes up many times, but whether it is Flagler College's palm cottage (used for the map), or one of the homes on Palm Lane could not be determined.
